Years ago I had the idea to build a „Small-Business-Server-Farm“ based on Raspberry Pi computer infrastructure. Back then it was to early but now, it is possible.
The goal: A fully functional server infrastructure that is easy to use, reliable, and robust, has low energy consumption, and can be offered at a very good price. Supplier independence and autonomy are desirable side effects.
That does not mean that cloud services should not used anymore. It is more about a perfect combination for the individual needs. And there is also a “disadvantage”: your own company needs IT expertise, someone who can maintain the systems and understands what the company and users need.
But having all of that is a really good feeling!
The network storage is up and running, and this week I set up the next server.
This new server is our own DNS server, which processes requests internally and protects the company from “invisible” DNS requests. But this is not all. This server handles also the external FTP Service for save data exchange with our customers and service providers.
